Well, it’s been a minute!
This post has actually been sitting in my drafts for two years (!), which feels a little wild considering how much life has happened since then. Our former threenager is now six, our family has grown in a few unexpected (and furry!) ways, and somehow the days keep turning into months and the months into years.
I’ve had so much I’ve wanted to share here, from house projects and family adventures to the little things that make up everyday life. But between work, parenting, and, well, life, sitting down to write about it all hasn’t always made it to the top of the list.
There’s also been some unfinished business from my last post.
If you’re new here or need a refresher, you can read my original story here or check out the news coverage.
We’re still pushing for justice, and recently learning of another reported drink-spiking incident at the same bar has been difficult to process. It’s frustrating to know that this is still something we’re dealing with, and that there may be others navigating similar experiences. I hope to share more when the time is right.
But I also want to make something clear: life hasn’t stood still while all of this has been going on.
We have two beautiful, healthy kids who are growing up way too fast. We’ve made memories, tackled home projects (some finished, some very much not), traveled, laughed, and experienced all the usual chaos of family life. We’ve also added some furry family members to the mix, because apparently we didn’t have enough going on already.
Life is good. Not perfect, not without its hard things, but full of a whole lot to be grateful for.
And that’s what I want this space to reflect: all of it. The projects, the adventures, the family updates, the things I’m learning, and the everyday moments that are easy to overlook when you’re busy living them.
A Little More Life, Please
One of the highlights of the past couple of years was Jeremy and my first-ever kid-free vacation to Montreal. We explored the city, ate our way through it, enjoyed some much-needed time together, and Jeremy came home with a massive tattoo. Naturally, there’s a story there.
We’ve continued working on our house, too. If you’ve been around for a while, you know how much I love a good project, and there are some big ones I still haven’t shared. It’s probably time I finally got around to that.
The kids have grown and changed, family life has entered new seasons, and I’ve been trying to make a little more room for things that are just for me, too. Because as much as I love being a mom, there’s something to be said for continuing to figure out who you are along the way.
Mostly, I’m realizing how quickly time moves. There’s always another project to finish, another season to get through, another thing on the to-do list. Meanwhile, the kids are getting bigger, we’re slowly working through our home renovation list, and I’m dreaming about what’s next. If I’m being honest, I’m ready for a change of scenery. I want out of this town, and I want something bigger, with more opportunities and a fresh start. After everything that’s happened, I think I’m ready for a new chapter somewhere else. Life keeps moving, whether I document it here or not, and I’m trying to be more intentional about where I want it to take us.
So, What’s Next?
I don’t have a grand plan for the blog’s return. I just know there’s a lot I’ve wanted to share, and I’d love to get back to doing that.
Expect some home projects, family adventures, travel, and the occasional glimpse into the beautiful, messy, very ordinary business of life around here. I’ll continue to share updates on the big things, too, when I’m able.
Thanks for sticking around, whether you’ve been here since the beginning (10 years!) or are just finding your way here.
It’s been a while. A lot has changed. And there’s plenty more life to share.
Let’s catch up!
